MattCurtisCal-StateNorthridgeNorthridge, Calif. – The contract for Matt Curtis, head baseball coach at Cal State Northridge, will not be renewed, according to Dr. Brandon E. Martin, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.

“After considerable evaluation, we have decided to make a change in the leadership of our baseball program,” said Martin. “We appreciate the efforts and contributions that Coach Curtis has made to CSUN and our baseball program for the past three years and wish him nothing but success moving forward.”

Curtis recently completed his third season at CSUN in 2013. Curtis’ overall record was 77-89, and 31-44 in league competition.

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately, according to Martin.

Does anyone know why? I don’t personally know Matt, but CSUN was actually decent this year. Why would they fire him?

My guess is the fact that the new AD and Curtis don’t get along as the new AD wants his own people in there.

The new AD hired Reggie Theus as the basketball coach.
