WASHINGTON – George Washington baseball head coach Steve Mrowka announced that the Colonials will host 25 games at newly renovated Barcroft Park in Arlington Va., as part of a 54-game schedule in 2012.
GW will open the season with a 10-game road trip, visiting Stetson for three games from Feb. 17-19, a three-game series with Army in Petersburg, Va. from Feb. 24-26 and visits to Duke (March 2-4) and William & Mary (March 7).
The Colonials will return home to host consecutive doubleheaders with Cornell on March 10 and 11. GW will remain home for nine of the next 13 games including meetings against local-rivals Georgetown (March 16), George Mason (March 21), Towson (April 3) and UMBC (March 28). During the stretch GW will also host A-10 foe La Salle (March 23-25) and Shepherd (March 31-April 1).
Other home-conference series include St. Bonaventure (April 20-22), Charlotte (April 27-29) and Xavier (May 11-13).
Road A-10 opponents include Rhode Island (April 6-8), Richmond (April 13-15), Saint Joseph’s (May 4-6) and Massachusetts (May 17-19).
The Colonials will also visit ACC foes Maryland (March 20) and Virginia (April 11). Additional non-conference opponents include road trips to William & Mary (March 7) and Longwood (March 30) and return visits to Georgetown (March 17-18), George Mason (April 17) and UMBC (April 18).
The Atlantic 10 Championship tournament will be held at Fordham University’s Houlihan Park in Bronx, N.Y., on May 23-26.
