The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 38 in our countdown with junior RHP Addison Reed of San Diego State. He is from Rancho Cucamonga California and attended Los Osos High School. He played four seasons under Anthony Vasquez where he mostly played first base until his junior season when he got a chance on the mound. As a senior he ended up splitting time on the mound and at first base. His senior season saw him bat .446 with 10 doubles, 13 home runs and 34 RBI while on the mound he went 5-1 with a 2.53 earned run average including 33 strikeouts with nine walks.
Addison’s freshman season saw him appear in 24 games totaling 26.1 innings while having a record of 3-1 with a team high four saves and an ERA of 2.73. He finished the season with 26 strikeouts while walking eight batters. Opponents finished the 2008 season with a .240 average against him. Reed’s had a breakout season in 2009 as he made 25 appearances without recording a decision but had an outstanding ERA of 0.65 while picking up 20 saves. He allowed opponents to hit only .200 against him. He received several national awards including being named the 2009 NCBWA Stopper of the Year, and named First Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA while being named Second Team All-American by Baseball America. He was invited to tryout for the 2009 USA Collegiate National Team but could not attend.
